Well, mastering the secrets of the rich, maybe tough, but there are basic fundamentals. In the belief that most of us need to be reminded of these repeatedly, listed below are a few of the secrets which have benefited me and my clients over the years:
Concentrate on values. I've known individuals who made a few bucks, but I've not known anybody who got prosperous without reviewing their own values, priorities and beliefs. Start by jotting down a listing of things you value, issues you believe, what you wish, and what you intend to do with this incredible life you have. Begin with your values.
Get a life. Before you can deal with great wealth, you must make space for it. That is the old, "if you build it, they will come" model. Attempting to squeeze success, prosperity, fame or fortune into a smaller life won't work. Create a life first of all; the lifestyle you dream of will follow.
Eliminate clutter. Trying to create good results and attain wealth when your life's a spill won't work. Achievements requires clear priorities and a passionate commitment. Ease your burdens. Eliminate the lame excuses. Clean up anything that distracts you from reaching the most important objectives.
Lay down your end results. Nobody can strike a target they can't see. Determine your final results and set clear, achievable results in advance. Know what "success" seems like! Have quantifiable, specific results and decide that you will attain them!
Burn your ships. There's an old story about a Greek general who ended up his troops on an enemy shore, then burned up his ships. He really wanted to make it very obvious: Retreat and failure were not an alternative! Leave absolutely no room for failure.
Another one of the secrets of the rich is: Put in more than you take out. Nobody will pay you more than your services are worth! Get very clear about that! You just can't fool people very long. Your services and your results must be far more valuable than the small fee you charge. Some people will rip you off; the rest could make you rich!
Stay below your means. Rich people know this. Wealth is actually accumulated, re-invested, used wisely and given away. It is never wasted! Let the millionaire athletes and folks who win lotteries purchase the fancy cars and flashy jewelry. If you want to achieve great wealth, live simply, invest wisely, enjoy it all!
Get wealthy slowly. The key to great wealth is to minimize income, even while maximizing your assets. Income is taxed. Income gets spent -- think about all the cars, boats, diamonds and houses people with huge incomes like to buy! Investing in assets which are hard to spend (buildings, stocks and bonds, collectible art, etc) generates wealth that is not taxed, and isn't spent on a casual reactions.
Give it away. You can't take it with you while you die, and money is not attracted to the self-centered, the miserly or the mean. If you would attract money to your life, be clear about what you must do with it. Contribute to charities that will use it for good. Make the entire world a better, richer place and you'll create wealth that will last for generations to come. Your children will thank you! And one day you may be teaching others the secrets of the rich.
